Born as Patrick Maderos Kennedy Dito, Bahia’s artistic journey had an unconventional beginning. Initially a mining engineer in his native Chile, fate led him to the enchanting realms of the Brazilian Amazon, where he encountered the awe-inspiring beauty of its fauna and flora. It was during his convalescence from malaria that he ventured into tapestry making, and the impressions of the jungle never ceased to inspire his artistic endeavors. His tapestries vividly depict the lush Amazonian ecosystem, intertwining vibrant colors and intricate details that reflect his profound connection to nature.

Upon his arrival in Bahia in the 1960s, Kennedy Bahia further expanded his artistic repertoire by incorporating folklore motifs from Afro-Bahian culture. These elements infused his works with a rich cultural tapestry, celebrating the traditions, spirituality, and rhythms of Bahian heritage. Through his art, Bahia beautifully merged the natural world with the vibrancy of Afro-Brazilian cultural expressions, creating a harmonious visual symphony.
